Preston Guild City

University of Central Lancashire Masterplan

CGI UCLan Student Centre, Preston

The Masterplan vision is to create an attractive, inviting, world-class campus in line with UCLan’s status as one of the UK’s largest universities...

A core principle of the University of Central Lancashire Masterplan is to integrate the university's campus seamlessly with the rest of the city, benefitting current and future generations of students, staff, visitors and the wider Preston community.

Developing a skilled workforce, which meets local, national and international needs, is also a central pillar to the UCLan's development plans. Over the five year lifespan of the project, it is anticipated investing £200 million, helping to create jobs, kick-start regeneration and attract inward investment into the City of Preston.

New developments and improvements

The project will see the development of the following two new fresh innovative space:

Student Centre

At the heart of the Masterplan scheme a new Student Centre linked with a new public square will draw together the university with the city like never before. The long term vision is to spark a major focus on regeneration and business investment in the university quarter, reinforce the university’s ties to the local community and create wider benefits for Preston and beyond.

Engineering Innovation Centre

The opening of the £30 million+ Engineering Innovation Centre (EIC) will be a major milestone in the completion of the campus masterplan, alongside two new Social Spaces facilities, which will improve the campus experience and provide a place for staff and students to come together in a relaxed environment. This state of the art facility at the centre of the most intense engineering and manufacturing areas in the UK, establishes UCLan as a leader in engineering innovation. The integrated space for teaching, research and knowledge exchange will result in an increase in 500 locally trained graduates per year in areas such as aerospace, mechanical, oil and gas safety engineering.

You can watch the time-lapse video of the build of the EIC below.
