The search is on to find Lancashire's top choral singing talent as part of an exciting new competition. The competition 'Lancashire Choir of the Year 2022' launched Wednesday 18 May and aims to encourage a wide range of choirs from around the county. Workplaces, schools, communities can come together to showcase their love of singing.

People of all abilities - from budding baritones to soaring sopranos - are welcome to take part. This includes those from Lancashire, Blackpool, and Blackburn with Darwen.

The competition will see choristers put their skills to the test, recording their performances on video in a bid to reach the finals. A panel will then judge the videos and choose the winners, who will go through to the finals to be held on Thursday 24 November 2022 at Preston Guild Charter Theatre. These finals have been timed to take place just before Lancashire Day on 27 November.

As part of the celebration event on Thursday 24 November 2022 there will be prizes awarded to the:

  • Overall winner
  • 1st runner-up
  • 2nd runner-up
  • People's Choice winner

The winning choir will be offered a professional recording session, and the runners up and People's choice choirs will be offered a professional vocal workshop. The People's Choice winner may also be the overall winner or one of the runners-up.

The Lancashire Choir of the Year Trophy will be awarded to the choir that wins the final. Additional trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd runners up and the winning choir of the online People's Choice.

Only one prize can be awarded to a choir.

The celebration event will take place at the Charter Theatre, Preston and will be compered by Tim Uffindell, vocalist. Tim has been teaching in the world of voice for the last seven years. His work encompasses lots of different disciplines which include Vocal Coaching, Voice Acting, and being the Choir Leader for Soul Children UK.
