Explore this exhibition inspired by Viking Fearsome Craftsmen...

Discover how Viking artisans turned the materials they had around them into stunning items of cultural significance.

Vikings made ordinary things to serve their everyday needs, adding to them by decorating them with designs which reveal the true spirit of the Viking Age.

Explore items the Vikings created from wood, bone and metal as well as many more materials showcasing their lesser known side.

The exhibition will also feature the Silverdale Hoard as well as a replica Viking house.

Kings and Vikings

Wednesday 17 July, 6pm

Kings and Vikings takes a closer look at the Silverdale and Cuerdale Hoards exploring the stories and secrets of these treasures.

Beowulf by Seth Kriebel

Wednesday 17 July, 7.30pm

Beowulf by Seth Kriebel is an interactive performance, allowing the audience to take part in the decisions that shape the story of the Viking hero, Beowulf.

Fearsome Craftsmen BSL Tour

Thursday 18 July, 1pm

The Fearsome Craftmen British Sign Language Tour takes an informal look at the exhibition for deaf visitors and their friends and family

Kids Clay Lamp Making

Monday 29 July, 11am and 1pm

This Kids Clay Lamp Making workshop will give children aged five and over the chance to create their own Viking-style clay lamp to take home with them.

Fearsome Craftsmen Audio Described Tour

Wednesday 7 August, 3pm

The Fearsome Craftsmen Audio Described Tour allows partially sighted and blind visitors to enjoy this fantastic exhibition; with textures and smells to help enhance the Viking experience.

Make a Viking Longboat in miniature to take home with you in this workshop suitable for ages five and over.
