If you haven't yet heard the news, the Museum of Lancashire has now closed for an exciting refurbishment and redevelopment project.
Follow our Grand Designs into the future at the museum, currently hidden from public view as it undergoes a complete facelift.
Once re-opened, we'd like to invite you for your first taste of the Lancashire story, which will signpost you to the diverse heritage across the county. Seven interactive galleries along with new visitor facilities such as a shop, cafe and improved access for the disabled are just some of the new amenities that will be on offer when the renovation is finished in 2011.
Keep checking our website for further updates and follow virtual progress online. Be prepared for the unveiling of a new and fascinating story in 2011 when the new-look museum be will revealed in all its splendour.

Exit M6 at Junction 31 and follow the signs up the hill (A59) to Preston City Centre. Continue straight ahead. Turn right at the lights at the end of New Hall Lane then right again into our car park.
From the city centre of Preston take the A6 south bound and the Museum is immediately on the left. Just 10 minutes walk from the Tourist Information Centre.
Rail: To Preston, the museum is a 20 minute walk from the railway station.
Bus: The museum is a 5 minute walk from Preston bus station.
