Every 4th Sunday of the Month the outdoor covered market in Preston city centre is taken over by a top quality localproducers providing a vibrant hub of activity, mouthwatering aromas, colourful displays and inspiring recipe demonstrations. click here for 2008 dates.
Fresh on the Market is in its third year and is an initiative that provides local artists, designers and makers the opportunity to sell their work in the heart of the city. It extends the ethos of PAD (Preston Art and Design) - the contemporary store and gallery space located on Church Street but soon to relocate to the Old Post office building on Preston Flag Market. It joins up with the Farmers Market every 4th Sunday, meaning you can sample local produce of both the edible and artisitic variety!
Operating on four days a week, the outdoor market, situated underneath the splendid Victorian canopy next to the Market Hall, comes to life with a traditional open market. Over 140 stalls can be accommodated in this central location right in the heart of Preston City Centre. The Market is full of character, colour and charm but perhaps of more importance, excellent goods with friendly services and bargains galore. Each stall is designed to entice the shoppers and the browsers or simply those walking through the town.

Every Tuesday & Thursday the Victorian Open Market site is transformed into one of the regions largest and most popular Car Boot and Flea Markets. With over 160 stalls and car boot spaces, the atmosphere is simply magic. Crowds flock to the market searching for that bargain hidden amongst the thousands of items being sold. If you love browsing and searching for valuables, collectables or even toys to keep the kids happy, then this is the market for you.

Open Monday - Saturday 8am - 5.30pm the indoor market covers two floors and is linked to the Open Market. The market has excellent access to the multi storey car park via lifts and walkways.
The lower floor of the Market Hall is dedicated to food and comprises 75 stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, health foods, sweets, cooked meats, bread, confectionary and traditional local produce such as Black Pudding and Tripe. A number of specialist stalls can be found selling more exotic fruit, veg and spices - including an excellent Polish delicatessen!
The upper floor is dedicated to non food items with the exception of a first class café which overlooks the Open Market. There are 60 shops and stalls selling a variety of goods including ladies fashion, haberdashery, childrenswear, jewellery, handbags and luggage, sportswear, homebrew kits, household goods, coats, underwear - the list goes on!
