Run Preston 2008

People in Preston are being encouraged to dust off their running shoes and once again sign up for this year's Run Preston.

The fifth annual race day, run in partnership with Preston Primary Care Trust, takes place on Sunday, September 28th. Run Preston promises to be bigger and better than before and will offer something for everyone. Three separate races will cater for all abilities - from running enthusiasts and fitness fanatics through to children and amateurs.

The day kicks off with a Fun Run for all the family at 9.30am. This is open to anyone ages eight and over, and entry is £3.

A 10km run starts at 10am. This is open to anyone over the age of 15 and costs £10 to enter, or £8 for those affiliated to a running club.

Finally, there is a 5km run or walk at 11.30am, is open to anyone aged over 14 and costs £8 to enter, or £6 for club members. This event also doubles as a workplace challenge to promote a healthy lifestyle and will offer various team prizes.

All three events will start and finish in Market Street and follow routes through the heart of the city, along the riverside and through the city's historical Avenham and Miller parks.

Additionally, the afternoon of this year's event sees the return of Bike Preston, an event where cyclists are invited to compete in a race around Preston's city centre.
