Celebrating the fantastic waterborne traditions of the powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution, the Riversway Festival brings the Docks alive with an array of water based activities and family fun. The Docks provides an idyllic backdrop for this summer festival that will get you hooked to the area.
The 2009 festival included entertainment from a variety of local bands and this year included an acoustic Sunday afternoon and even Punch and Judy. There was also a war of roses demonstration, a Police launch boat, art and craft stalls, Polish food demonstrations, free creative workshops and a mobile zoo!
The highlights of the event were the professional jetskiers, (European Freestyle Champion Dan Ashcroft & the Pierats), who amazed the crowds with their stunts on the marina throughout the day; as well as the national league dragon boat races on the Sunday and the fireworks display that finished the Saturday evening programme.
