Carnival

May 24th 2009 - Moor Park 12pm

Carnival ImagePreston Caribbean Carnival celebrated its 30th anniversary back in 2004 with an event which was widely regarded to have been its most successful yet! It is arguably Preston's most diverse event attracting around 20,000 participants. Carnival is a means for people to express the way they feel about the world and to say it in a language of their choosing whether that be music, dance, song or costume.

Preston Caribean Carnival manIt is a wonderful opportunity to bring together different social, ethnic cultural, geographic and age groups who would otherwise might never meet. Whether you choose be a part of the carnival itself or simply come along to enjoy the spectacular it creates as it parades through the city centre remember to bring your dancing shoes and a smile and you will undoubtedly have a fantastic time. The parties can often continue into the small hours and for many it is the highlight of the year!

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Carnival the first 'Social and Economic Impact Study' was completed in September 2004. Click here to view or download the full report as a PDF file.

The Carnival Committee are always looking for volunteers to be involved in the organisation and planning of this event so why not join us? You will have fun and make new friends in the process, looking forward to the Carnival in 2009.
