Unique Boutiques

A selection of independent boutiques, gift shops, jewellers and salons have located themselves on the quaint side streets situated off Fishergate. Meander down any of these attractive streets to see the range of unique stores who together separate Preston’s offer from other shopping destinations. If you need a few tips from the locals about where to find exactly what you need, helpful information can be found at Preston Visitor Information Centre, The Mall ASK ME point or from one of the City Ambassadors who should see on patrol in the city centre. Look for the bright blue blazers and don’t be afraid to stop them and ask.

High Street Heavy Weights

As you would expect from Lancashire’s shopping city, many familiar high street names can be found on Fishergate, Friargate or within the Fishergate or St Georges shopping centres. Debenhams marks the beginning of Fishergate – this shopper’s highway to heaven has familiar names such as River Island, Oasis, Next, Laura Ashley, Marks and Spencer’s, Warehouse, Dorothy Perkins, Top Shop and Top Man, HMV and Tony and Guy.

Strolling up Friargate towards the Flag Market not only provides a view of one of Preston's most magnificent buildings, the Harris Museum & Art Gallery, but is also lined with stores, smoothy bars and of course those famous golden arches! Linking the University of Central Lancashire to the heart of the city centre Friargate blends shops, traditional and modern drinking venues, and a Chinese buffet style restaurant. Café Nero on the corner is perfectly situated for a latte, a read and a quick spell of people watching!
