Preston Railway Station

A £1.5million upgrade of the station is currently taking place...
A new station entrance and concourse sited at the bottom end of Fishergate the main high street through the city centre will improve the customer experience which forms part of a transformational programme of improvements.
Electrification
There is further investment with the electrification of the Preston to Manchester via Bolton line which will reduce journey times to 30 minutes. Electrification has already been completed between Manchester Victoria and Preston which allowed Trans Pennine Express to introduce new Class 350 Desiro trains. The new trains have reduced journey times, boosted seat capacity and enabled more frequent services to run between Manchester, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
HS2
Future HS2 Hub Station services will greatly enhance the economic competitiveness of Preston in today’s increasingly globalised world, cutting journey times to London down to 77 minutes by 2037.
