Preston has a great range of venues, foremost amongst these being the Guild Hall complex, which features two large venues, hosting around three hundred events every year. The Grand Hall has seating for over 2,000, although its multi-purpose layout and flexibility allows the venue to host sporting events, conferences and dinner dances. Within the same complex, the smaller Charter Theatre has traditional style seating for 780 guests and hosts plays, pantomimes and charity events.
Other venues in Preston include 53 Degrees, a live music club for concerts, clubnights and comedy within the University of Central Lancashire campus; the Frog and Bucket comedy club in the city centre; and The Continental pub by the river, which has an arts and events space that hosts anything from music and theatre to lectures and yoga. Amateur theatre productions are catered for by the Playhouse Theatre in the city centre.
