Preston is recognised as one of the greenest cities in the country, with over two-thirds of it's area being either rural or green open spaces. The city has seven parks within it’s urban area and six of these were recently awarded ‘Green Flag’ status in recognition of good management, cleanliness and nature conservation. A wide range of events are held within these Parks and Open Spaces, catering for many different interests from fun days to hands-on nature events
Brockholes is a new kind of nature reserve - an unreserved nature reserve, where everyone is welcome, whether you’re a naturalist or just want to experience local wildlife for the first time. Brockholes features a spectacular floating visitor village with a gift shop, local food store and restaurant. Visitors can also register for a range of exciting events throughout the year, with children’s events organised for holiday periods.
