Chinese New Year 2019 sees Preston alive with a variety of fun things to see and do for all the family. Witness traditional and colourful Lion Dancers, take part in exciting Chinese crafts, or watch some unique Chinese puppetry. There are plenty activities for you to get involved in.
Chinese New Year Crafts - Sharoe Green Library
Saturday 2 February, 10am-12pm
Aimed at children under 12 years of age, Sharoe Green have an array of crafts to take part in. In this drop-in session you can make bookmarks, masks, and New Year cards.
Chinese New Year 2019 - The Harris
Saturday 9 February, 11am-3.30pm
The Harris have a packed programme of activities for the whole family, in celebration of the year of the Pig.
The day kicks off with Lion Dancers on the Flag Market at 11am (or inside The Harris if the weather is bad), followed by Preston People's Choir singing Chinese moon poetry to music at 1pm.
Inside The Harris you'll also find plenty things to do and see to suit everyone, including Chinese puzzles, games, crafts, storytelling, and much more.
Chinese New Year 2019 - Preston Guild Hall
Tuesday 12 February, 12pm-2pm
Coming to Preston all the way from Shanghai, the Shanghai Theatre Academy are bringing an exciting programme to the stage in Preston Guild Hall.
The show includes traditional dance, Chinese puppetry, and traditional musical instruments.
