Description

None

This Wetherspoon pub is named after the Franciscan monks, known as Grey Friars from the colour of their habits, who founded a nearby friary in the early 13th century.

The friary was founded around 1220. It gave its name to Friargate, but was actually in Marsh Lane (formerly Friars Lane), between Lower Pitt Street and Ladywell Street. The Franciscans, or Grey Friars, are also remembered in the name of this pub.

This is a popular venue serving a good value food menu.

we went in the grey friers preston for a drink on saturday 31 dec 2011, I have never come across a more ignorant so called bar manager in my life, did not want to know waiting at the bar for ages serving people who had come in after us and when questioned saying it is a bar, no please or thank you. Just to let you know the pub trade is on its knees and the trade don't need people like you!
